Zoning CoDe Resources

The city of Austin is trying to update the zoning code that determines what can be built where. Highland will see some changes if and when the changes are put into effect. Here are some resources if you’re interested in this issue:

How to get rid of things you don’t know how to recycle?

Austin Resource Recovery does our curbside compost and recycling pick ups. They also have a drop off at 2514 Business Center Dr, Austin, TX 78744. It is a bit of a drive but they can take your old paint, electronics, plastic bags, cardboard, unusable textiles, and much more!

Austin Creative Reuse: This wonderful organization is right here in Highland. You can donate old art and craft supplies or buy used ones. It is in the Linc facing Middle Fiskville Road (right down from Easy Tiger).

The city watershed department has a sustainable planting and rain catcher program. We are on the Waller Creek watershed so that makes us an ideal neighborhood for the program. You can learn more here.
