You’re invited to a conversation about public art for Highland Neighborhood Park!

Who: The City of Austin Economic Development Department Art in Public Places (AIPP) Program; Sponsor Department: Parks and Recreation Department

What: An online engagement opportunity to further the conversation about new public art funded by the Highland Neighborhood Park Concept Plan project. As Highland Park users and community members, your feedback will inspire the selection of an artist to design the commissioned artwork for the site and help guide the Art in Public Places project so that, upon installation, it is welcomed by the community.

When: Please RSVP at the links below to receive links to the online meetings.  Your constituents are invited to attend the meeting too!  You don’t have to attend both meetings but attending both ensures an abundance of community input!

Session 1: Wednesday, December 1st, 6:00 to 7:00 pm

Session 2: Tuesday, December 7th, 6:00 to 7:00 pm

Session #1: At this kick-off, we will share a short status update on the sponsor project and a bit about the Art in Public Places program. Staff will then ask you to spend the remaining time together dreaming of the possible inspirations or goals to spark an artist to create an artwork for the site.

Session #2: We will present the project outline or prospectus that captures the goals, the artwork opportunities, the artist selection process and the schedule and get your feedback on any revisions needed before we bring it to the Art in Public Places Panel for approval.
