Spring '24 HNA Newsletter: Neighbors Meet Thursday 3/7

Hello, fellow Highlanders!

Parking lots with public access are located just off of the main Airport Blvd.-facing entrance, or on the east side of the building off of Jonathan Dr. There is also street parking throughout the ACC Highland campus, and a couple of public parking garages.

It’s time once again for our quarterly general meeting at ACC Highland (Building 1000, Room 1.2101) on Thursday, March 7 from 6-8pm. We’ll also broadcast live on Zoom here.

📅 What’s On the Agenda? 📅

  • Development and zoning: updates and changes coming to the Transit-Oriented Development overlay surrounding Crestview Station, zoning change requests on Kenniston Drive, improving residential connectivity to local services and area parks, and a new affordable housing development proposed for Airport Boulevard

  • Mobility, transit, and walkability: details on the launch of a Safe Streets program in Highland on Croslin Street, strategizing on ways to improve pedestrian infrastructure and safety as development/density grows (especially on Rufus Drive and Marcell Street)

  • Parks and public spaces: an update on construction at Highland Neighborhood Park and the incoming public art project created by Samara Barks

  • Beautification: opportunities to help clean up our area waterways, ditches and walk/bike paths

  • Neighborhood meetup: plans for another Highland meet-and-greet at a local park

🗳️ Super Tuesday is March 5 🗳️

The 2024 Texas primary election is this Tuesday, March 5. The Travis County Clerk’s office has a map of polling locations, and be sure to check out local endorsements from the Austin Chronicle and the Austin American-Statesman’s voter guide for more.

🚮 Trash + Recycling 🚮

Spring bulk brush pickup is underway! The City of Austin has a neat online tool that allows residents to track upcoming pickups and bulk and brush collection schedules — just enter your address. Keep in mind that the brown bins are for landfill trash, the blue bins are for recycling only, and the green bins are for compost! If you’ve got the wrong items in the wrong bin, your waste won’t be collected.

See y’all thursday!

Cheers,
Andrea
